NEHCA  JUNIOR DIVISION                                                                                                                                           

   The  Northeast Highland Cattle Junior Association held its 6th annual show at the New York Beef Expo, held in Syracuse, New York, on October 16,1999.   This was our largest Junior Show yet, with 22 juniors participating.  These juniors were from many different areas of the U.S.A. including Pa., N.Y., Maine, Vermont, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Canada.

The NEHCA Jr.Heifer Show was held before the NEHCA open show. This year we had 26 Highland heifers competing in 3 separate classes. 

The winner of the Steene Hill Cup was Beth Colvin, Canada, with her Senior Heifer, CCR Witchy Woman 3G, sponsored by Thistle Hill Farm, Canada.  (shown below)

The  Junior Division Showmanship Class was held prior to the Cow-Calf Class.  There were 3 classes.  Pictured below are the winners of each class.

Nathan Miller was the Champion of the Junior Division Class. Ages 11 & under. Nathan was sponsored by Gilchrist Farm, N.Y.

Amanda Field was the Reserve Champion of the Junior Division Class. Ages 11 & under. Amanda was sponsored by Gilchrist Farm, N.Y.

 

Robyn Murray was the Champion of the Intermediate Division Class.   Ages 13-14. Robyn was sponsored by Setting Sun Highlands, Canada

Derek Williams was the Reserve Champion of the Intermediate Division Class.  Ages 13-14. Derek was sponsored by Ainsworth Highlands, Vermont.

Catie Rolica was the Champion of the Senior Division Class.   Ages 15-18.  Catie was sponsored by Blossom Ridge Highlands, Canada.

Iain Colvin was the Reserve Champion of the Senior Division Class.   Ages 15-18. Iain Colvin was sponsored by Thistle Hill Farm, Canada

 

The Champions of the Showmanship Classes each won  a U.S. Mint Proof Gold  coin, and the Reserve Champions each won a U.S. Mint Proof Silver Dollar. All of the juniors received a tee shirt that was the attire of the show.Each junior received a trophy.  This was our largest show yet, and we hope to continue to grow in the future.
